From Grotowski to La Vie Bohème

Aesthetics, Performance Pedagogy, and the Taiwanese Body after U Theatre

Taking body-based and body-centered approaches in my analysis of the intercultural transmission of Jerzy Grotowki's performance pedagogy, I examine his role in de-colonizing the Taiwanese body.

I argue that one of the most significant legacies that Taiwan has inherited from Grotowski, in practice and in sociocultural terms, is a re-conceptualized body, localized and energized.
